Tuscan Maremma is known for its hills, its scenery, food and wine. In fact, on the rolling hills and down to the Argentario coast there is a strong wine-making culture. The fantastic wines are created thanks to tradition and the passion the farmers dedicate to their vineyards.
At present, there is 1 D.O.C.G wine, 8 D.O.C wines and 1 I.G.T wine, as well as the beauty of 3 Wine Roads.
The DOCG is the Morellino di Scansano, the area's prestigious wine, a product which is very much appreciated even beyond the national borders. Together with the Brunello di Montalcino and the Chianti wines, it represents the cream of Tuscan wines.
The DOC products are the Ansonica Costa dell'Argentario, Maremma Toscana DOC White, Maremma Toscana, Capalbio Montecucco, Monteregio di Massa Marittima, Parrina and Sovana wines.
The IGT is the Toscana wine.
In our blog's posts we'll present them all to you, and try to describe them. Not only how they are produced, but above all, their aromas and tastes, together with the right dishes from the traditional cuisine of Maremma!
Furthermore, we'll take you along the itineraries of the Wine Roads, which, as we said, are three: the Wine and Taste Road – Hills of Maremma, the Wine and Taste Road – Monteregio of Massa Marittima and the Wine Road of Montecucco and the Tastes of Amiata.
Enjoy a journey through this territory rich in history and tradition with a good glass of wine in your hand!
Wine adds a smile to friendship and a sparkle to love. It's the second blood for the human race.
