A collaboration to give greater visiility to the Villa Acquaviva brand and to the wines of the Tuscan Maremma
From the 2020 harvest Riccardo Cotarella is the new consultant of the historic Morellino di Scansano winery “Villa Acquaviva”.
This new synergy was born above all thanks to the long friendship that binds Serafino and Riccardo from the 1960s when they attended the same studies and the college of the agricultural institute of Bagnoregio.
Not only do we want to bring greater visibility to the brand and the products of the D'Ascenzi family, but also to the wines of an extraordinary land that is undoubtedly devoted to wine production such as that of the Tuscan Maremma.
The Morellino di Scansano or vines such as Vermentino, in recent years, have been demonstrating the great potential of this part of Tuscany.
The D'Ascenzi family, consisting of Serafino, Valentina and their 2 children Michele and Fabrizio, is a consolidated reality that has been producing quality wines since 1985, the year the estate was acquired; since the same year they have also been a point of reference for hospitality and wine tourism with the Relais Villa Acquaviva and the restaurant La Limonaia, recommended by the most important guides in the sector.
“After a life that we know each other and in which we have confronted each other several times, today we have decided to make this friendship more solid - declares Serafino D’Ascenzi - with a collaboration that aims to bring greater knowledge of a territory that is unique in the world. We border with 2 great wine realities such as Montalcino and Bolgheri but to which it has nothing to envy. With Riccardo we will undoubtedly be able to achieve the goal we have set for ourselves
Friendship with Serafino began in the mid-1960s when we attended the Agosti Brothers Agricultural Institute in Bagnoregio in a boarding school run by strict Franciscans. I remember Serafino ever since as a determined, far-sighted, proud person with a character who then led him to found one of the most beautiful companies in the Tuscan Maremma from scratch. I am sure that our relationship of friendship and esteem that is so dated will be the driving force that will allow us to give the Acquaviva company the opportunity to express its potential through great wines.
Surely they will see some good ones.
There will be no disruption of the production line of Villa Acquaviva, which will continue to produce the 4 whites (Biancospino, Acquaviva, Chardonnay and Vermentino) and the 3 reds (Pian di Giomo, Nero and Bracaleta Riserva)
The great national and international experience of Cotarella will bring an improvement in terms of communication and that little bit more in terms of uniqueness and quality of the wines.
A multi-year relationship that will allow to better structure many actions to be taken to achieve the planned results in the best possible way.
Among these, there is nothing to prevent, from the minds of Serafino and Riccardo, with the support of the members of the 2 families, new products are born in the future as excellent final results of a splendid synergy.
